HISTORY
Kymdan has been manufacturing its products for over 50 years. Kymdan’s reputation is not limited to our homeland, Vietnam, but has spread worldwide. The Kymdan Corporation has registered its brand in more than 79 different countries and regions.
Its success is the result of hard work and on-going research through two generations.
Nowadays, when we talk about the KYMDAN Corporation we are talking about a world-wide recognised brand in mattress manufacturing.
The meaning of the name KYMDAN in Vietnamese language comes of "KỸ nghệ Mousse ĐA Ngành"
Stage 1 (1954– 1975)

Since prior to 1975, customers in Saigon have been familiar with Kymdan Mattresses. People can still recall Kymdan’s first appearance in 1954. The founder of the company, Mr Van Dan Nguyen (born in 1926 in Tan Duan Trung, Go Cong), gained patent license No 831 on September 26th, 1962. The founder has been acknowledged for his tremendous efforts working on the design and manufacturing of foam mattresses.
Stage 2 (1984 – 1998)

In 1975, Mr Van Dan Nguyen and his family migrated to France. Once settled, Mr. Van Dan Nguyen returned to his research, focusing on foam mattress manufacturing as means to make Kymdan products more reliable. Kymdan mattresses then became renowned for absorbing heat produced by the human body. As a result, Mr. Van Dan Nguyen acquired another patent license No 269364 from the Fair Trade Authorities in France on February 10th, 1984.

During its founder’s absence from the country, Kymdan products were absent from the domestic market until 1984 when Mr. Huu Tri Nguyen took the position of Welfare Manager in the Association of Industrial Rubber Enterprises. It was at this time that consumers saw rubber products including slippers, military sandals, tents, rugs, washers and many other rubber items reappearing on the market

During the early days of this change, many challenges were faced including lack of funds, equipment and social liability. As a result, the products were not very well marketed during the period between 1975 to 1988. Although the company faced many hardships, they remained strong and always believed that their business would grow and development.
Stage 3 (since 1999 – production based on franchise)

On Feb 1 st, 1999 , Sai Gon Kymdan-Rubber Stock Company franchise was established. It has an advantage of rich pools from shareholders. It bravely invested to form subsidiary company, buy modern equipments, automate process, and increase producing capacity to meet higher needs of the local and foreign markets.

The stage after privatization, Kymdan Company grows strongly its business volume and expands markets thanks to taking advantages of capital and mechanism. Successfully in privatization, only in short time of 1999-2007, its sales increase continuously (See the development chart). The higher sales each year is average of 37%. In some years, it reached 61%.

Kymdan is a private company (not state-run), it operates in the model of Parent / Subsidiary Company and has been privatized since 1999. The company has not been floated on the stock market. Kymdan has a factory located in the North-West Industrial Park of Cuchi District (11 hectares wide). Kymdan’s 2nd business enterprise is - Export garment enterprise and Interior furniture production. Kymdan has 3 branch companies outside the country, 6 branches domestic branches, 46 shops and more than 527 agents. Kymdan has registered its trade mark in more than 79 countries and regions worldwide.

Stage 4 (from2009 – international integration period)

From 01 January 2009, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tri hands over the managing right to his son Mr. Nguyen Tri Tan together with young leader team. Mr. Nguyen Huu Tri shall continue undertaking the president of the Kymdan Council.

Mr. Tan is the third generation of KYMDAN family to run the company. Having been well schooled overseas, Mr. Tan himself has worked as Branch Director of Kymdan Australia and Deputy General Director in charge of International Business so his experience shall promote his ability when he becomes the chief executive. In fact, when working as Branch Director of Kymdan Australia, Mr. Tan developed Kymdan Australia into the most efficient affiliate among Kymdan affiliates overseas.

Receiving the managing power when the world economy has depressed and had bad impacts to the company’s manufacture and trading, it is a chance for Mr. Tan and young leader team to show their capacities in the context of world economic integration as well as challenges, heavy responsibility of an executive leader towards the shareholders and all the staff for the sustainable development of the company.
The secret to Kymdan’s success is their ability to face the challenges within the company and the market as well as through their continuing innovative thinking. Kymdan’s breakthrough products have been manufactured through the application of Science and new Technology. This has been proved rather clearly by that the certificates and awards which Kymdan has achieved, were recognized by domestic and international organizations..
