| Mr. Van Dan Nguyen (Now settled down in France) |
-
Since prior to 1975, customers in Saigon have been familiar with Kymdan
Mattresses. People can still recall Kymdan’s first appearance in 1954. The
founder of the company, Mr Van Dan Nguyen (born in 1926 in Tan
Duan Trung, Go Cong), gained patent license No 831 on September 26th,
1962. The founder has been acknowledged for his tremendous efforts working on
the design and manufacturing of foam mattresses.
Stage 2 (1984 – 1998)
-
In 1975 (30 April 1975 – South Vietnam was liberated and
Vietnam was unified.), Mr Van Dan Nguyen and his family migrated to France.
Once settled, Mr. Van Dan Nguyen returned to his research, focusing on foam
mattress manufacturing as means to make Kymdan products more reliable. Kymdan
mattresses then became renowned for absorbing heat produced by the human body.
As a result, Mr. Van Dan Nguyen acquired another patent license No 269364 from

-
Kymdan products were unavailable in Vietnam during this period of time. By
1984, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tri (the son of Mr. Nguyen Van Dan) took up the position
of Manager of the state-owned Enterprise for Life Improvement, controlled by
the Union of Rubber Industry Enterprises, which produced Ho-Chi-Minh sandals,
eel-pot-shaped sandals (for Vietnamese soldiers), military belts, roof panels
(ebonite panels), tapises, rubber pipes, joints, engineering rubber, ....
-
In 1989, when Vietnam began to have new movements in the economy, Mr. Tri made
decision to re-produce natural foam rubber mattresses and to restore trade mark
KYMDAN. In this period, he had a lot of applications of new technical and
scientific achievements into production, making KYMDAN to become the type of
mattress with unique and excellent quality.
During the initial time of re-production, Mr. Tri faced a lot of difficulties
which are the lack of equipment and consumers’ awareness toward a trade mark
absent for a long time in the market since 1975 to 1988. However, Mr. Tri still
believed in the future of this product type.
Stage 3 (since 1999 – production based on franchise)
-
On Feb 1st, 1999, Sai Gon Kymdan-Rubber Stock Company franchise
was established. It has an advantage of rich pools from shareholders.
It bravely invested to form subsidiary company, buy modern equipments, automate
process, and increase producing capacity to meet higher needs of the local and
foreign markets.
-
The stage after privatization, Kymdan Company grows strongly its business
volume and expands markets thanks to taking advantages of capital and
mechanism. Successfully in privatization, only in short time of 1999-2008,
its sales increase continuously (See the development chart). The higher
sales each year is average of 37%. In some years, it reached 61%.

-
Since 01 January 2009, the company management power and the position of General
Director have been assigned by Mr. Nguyen Huu Tri to his son, Mr. Nguyen Tri
Tan, and his team of youthful leaders. Mr. Nguyen Huu Tri continues his tenure
of Chairman of the Management Board.
-

Having been trained methodically overseas (graduated from Victoria of
Technology – Melbourne, Australia, majoring in International Trade), and having
experienced various titles such as Director of Kymdan Australia, Deputy General
Director in charge of international trade, the experiences accumulated by Mr.
Tan will be further developed once he handles the important responsibility of
the executive leader of the Company. In reality, while under Mr. Tan’s
directorship, Kymdan Australia was one of the most efficient affiliates of
Kymdan beyond Vietnam’s border.
-
Undertaking the title of General Director in the global economic recession with
negative impacts hitting the Company’s production and business activities, this
will be the chance for Mr. Tan himself and the young management board to prove
their capabilities in the global integration setting, yet it is also the
challenge and heavy responsibility undertaken by the executive managers to the
Company’s shareholders and all its staff in the Company’s sustainable
development.
