Questions

What is the importance of sleep to human health?

As is widely known, sleep accounts for an average 8 hours per day (longer for young people). One third of our lifetime is reserved for sleep, which indicates sleep’s importance. The bodies of growing children produce growth hormones during sleep, so only a full, deep and comfortable sleep can help children to have good mental and physical development. For a laborer, sleep is when the body rejuvenates and prepares for a new work day. A person who lacks sleep feels tired, lack of energy, less sharp, memory deficient and loss concentration, thus, resulting in considerable decrease in working efficiency.

Thus, sleep is extremely important in human life and helps human survival and development.
